Top 10 Success Factors

A quick list of the factors that really count when it comes to success.

#1 Mindset

Decide right here and now that you can have anything in life you want.  Commit to yourself to have a positive outlook on life, always look on the bright side and be grateful for all the great things you have in your life.  It may take a while to get into the right mindset, but it all starts there.

#2 Visualize

Nourish your hopes and dreams by visualizing the outcome as many times as you can, every day, until you achieve the success you are looking for.  Live in a perpetual state of expecting everything to work out in your favor.  Engage your senses while imagining the outcome just the way you want it–what do you look like?  How do you feel?  What is around you in the visualization?  How does it smell?  Make it as detailed as possible, and do it often.  Anything to get you feeling good about the future you are creating.

#3 Love What you Do…

You may hate what you do or what you are now, but if you continue to hate it, you will continue to keep it in your life.  The key to making a big successful change is to get cool with your life and occupation just the way it is.  First, accept your current life and be grateful for the good stuff.  (Example: If you hate your job, be thankful you have a job.  Start there.)  Then, get excited about what you do and get busy being who you are.  Put your all into it like you would if you were doing what you love already.  Sounds backwards, but doing this opens opportunities for what you’re really looking for…

#4 …Do What You Love

If you practice the first 3 Factors of Success I listed, Opportunity will knock.  When it does, unlock that door with they Keys to Success.  Move through your fears and hesitations.  We all know when we’re standing in front of the opportunity of a lifetime–prepare for that moment, and when it comes to you, TAKE IT!

#5 Define Your Passion

When seeking to become truly great, it’s easiest–and most effective–to focus on “one thing” and make yourself the best you can be at that “one thing.”  My favorite quote on this principle is actually from a rap song;
“You do two things, and then they both gonna suffer.”
It can be good to take a multi-passionate approach to life or business, but in order to really excel at anything, it requires nurture, time, and cultivation.
Use your time wisely by choosing what you love most, do best, and what will do the most good in the world and become great at that “one thing.”

#6 Strengthen Your Skill

You owe it to the world to become very good at what you love to do.  Imagine where we would be if people with great ideas never raised their skill to the level required to make things happen.  We would not have iPhones or open heart surgery, or airplanes, or the internet… and no one would ever be able to play anything written by Debussy…because that stuff takes major skill!
Become the best you can be at what you love.  You owe it to us all.

#7 Master Yourself

If you think you can be successful in one area of life while the other areas are out of control, think again.  All the hard work you put in will eventually dissolve when neglected ‘life bills’ come due.  You are the deciding factor when it comes to life balance and success.  Do your best to be physically healthy, maintain positive personal relationships, manage your time and resources well, and assert responsibility for the maintenance of your life.

#8 Help Others

Service = Success
The more we are able to apply our talents to help others lead easier, happier lives, the more successful we will become.  In my opinion, the reason each of us has talents and passions is so that we may cultivate them and use them to make life on this planet better for everyone.  In short, use your superpowers for good, and you’ll be known as a super-person.

#9 Share Knowledge Freely

Once you know how to gain success and have acquired the success you were looking for, the best thing you can do is share your story and show others how they can also find success.  You may choose to publish a book, take on students, or simply share with others at no cost at all.  What ever you choose to do, being free with your knowledge allows the whole world to benefit from your experience, and adds more opportunities for you to succeed.

#10 Gratitude

This is the best attribute you can practice to make sure that success continues to come back to you.  Be grateful for everything in your life–even your challenges.  Especially be grateful for all the good things that are coming to you.  If all else fails, it’s usually a failure to be grateful.
